"..bio security to provide our customers with healthy and happy birds."
Biosecurity icon of a biosecure boots and mask
We practice bio security to provide our customers with healthy and happy birds.  We do not have tours or a day at the farm. Unfortunately, shoes and vehicle tires are a pathway for contamination. We have worked extremely hard and value our flocks as part of our extended family. Read more>
"..the strongest and best breeder to carry on the lineage of the flock."
Icon of a chicken breeder or a backyard hen
Unlike catering purely to seasonal chick orders, our urban backyard hen market gives us the unique opportunity to watch the hens grow from chicks to pullets.  We pick the strongest & best breeder to carry on the lineage of the flock.  Read more>
"..the unique opportunity to produce some of the best tasting heritage chickens
in North America."

Watching our male chicks grow into roosters enables us to select the best ones for our breeding programs. It also gives us the unique opportunity to produce some of the best tasting heritage chickens in North America.  Read more>
"..lines of pure bred birds that can be traced back hundreds of years."
Icon showing a rooster to explain that we have some of the best tasting pastured poultry in the USA
Our primary focus is chicken preservation.  It’s a circle of sustainability that is driven largely by our efforts to keep the birds that we love for many more generations to come.  We have lines of pure bred birds that can be traced back hundreds of years.  Read more>
"..chicks for sale that are from the best."
Icon of a chick as a symbol that we are a no-kill chick farm & chicks are from the best of the best breeders.
What sets us apart from people who only raise trios or have a few chicks is that we are actually focused on the breeds that we have.  We raise birds from breeding stock that has been selected from large preservation flocks.  Our goal is to provide our customers with chicks that are from the best.  Read more>
"..a no-kill chick farm."
Icon of a chick as a symbol that we are a no-kill chick farm & chicks are from the best of the best breeders.
We strive to be unique and more sustainable than any other North American chicken farmer or breeder. Our chicks are sold straight run unless specified as we do not squeeze chicks to ascertain whether they will become useful layers. To us, each and every bird is useful.  We are a no-kill chick farm.  Our hens and roosters get to experience life and grow into adults on pasture.  Read more>
"..our own crops and work with plant genetics.."
Icon showing trees to show that we raise our own crops & work with plant genetics like flowers & brassica.
Another note of interest is that we raise our own crops and work with plant genetics which are mostly flowers and brassica.  We do not use harmful pesticides or insecticides.  We believe that nothing beats fresh and all-natural from the ground.  Our birds really enjoy the fruit of our labor whether it's Pacific Northwest pumpkins, berries, corn, apples, kale.. We Ship Chicks & Juvenile Pullets Across the Continental USA

We ship chicks, juvenile feathered pullets, and limited-time-offer hatching eggs all across the Continental USA.
We will continue to only hatch within season and have a zero-chick loss policy. We care about the shipping conditions of the baby chicks.  If they are sent all season long, they will have to endure a challenging journey to make it to their destination so early. Usually in transit with freezing conditions. We meet up locally when possible and ship chicks ethically. This has resulted in minimal losses, and we are very proud of our ethical shipping standards.

The American Bresse?

8/21/2024
When I think about the Bresse chicken found in North America, it almost seems too good to be true..

My wish is to one day acquire elite stock, the Bresse otherwise known as Bresse de Bény that are closely guarded behind the rumored triple bio security walls. The Gauloise blanche attainable only as a borrowed commodity since its acceptance as a French designated Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée status.

I was among the very first to buy into American Bresse. It was between 2012 and 2013. At that time, I was developing some of our own non-Cornish lines of large dual-purpose breeds and had not quite achieved the growth potential that was found within the Bresse chicken breed. Read more>

With the help of her mom and dad, our little farmer has written a book about how we rescued our accidental house piglet named George Kune (pronounced like Clooney but without the "L") from the back field of our farm. The book is entitled "Life of George". The entire book can be read on our Kunekune web page. Hope you enjoy it!
You can also view a narrated version of the book on our IG page, link shown below:

Eggs Should be $12 a Dozen

9/13/2023
If you’re willing to pay six dollars a gallon for gas, you should be willing to step up and help the real farmers out. Here’s a few things to think about next time you are in the store bargain shopping.

Let’s face it everything in this world today costs a dollar whether it’s a mango or an apple or insert some other wholesome vegetable here. Nothing offers what the egg can offer. It is a complete meal in and of itself with proteins, good cholesterol, omega, minerals and vitamins. Why the heck can’t I charge a dollar per egg?

Next to Palisade Peaches, the egg is one of the most fragile commodities in the world. Chickens literally have to bust their butt for commercial farmers to make enough eggs every year, and their final reward, the soup pot... Read more>

Spring Creek Heritage Farms' Bellingham Sweet Corn. -SOLD OUT! Available again Summer/Fall 2025
Probably the best sweet corn we have eaten and our friends and clients agree.  We sell out fast so get on the order list now. Because of the high sugar content, it’s best to eat within a day or two after we hand pick your order at night when it’s cool out. It won’t get stuck in your teeth like traditional corn that is machine harvested in volume. This is an excellent choice for barbecues and family get together. I can almost guarantee that people will ask where you got such delicious corn.  Visit our Available Now page to know more about our Bellingham Sweet Corn.
