The Pacific Northwest Bresse

A Bresse rooster out on pasture.
We are focused on the breeds that we raise. The Bresse chicks come from breeding stock that has been selected from large preservation flocks of birds.  Our goal is to provide our customers with chicks that are from the best. We maintain a large gene pool to slow inbreeding depression. Here is an opportunity to raise a pastoral rare breed of chicken that will thrive and be an asset to your farm and pocketbook.

The Bresse has been established through 500 years of French tradition. Our birds are originally imported from Europe and from Canadian lines. Our farm imported the Canadian lines from British Columbia. Our recent import from Canada adds hardiness and vigor to the breed. The birds you will receive are a combination of American, European, and Canadian lines. We find Bresse to be a wonderful choice for homesteaders seeking the value of food independence. Truly a dual purpose chicken.

To know more about the Bresse chicken for the table and the unique way we finish our pastured birds, please visit our Pasture Raised Poultry Meat Shop.

...We’re in the desert quite different from where you are.  I let them free range in the day and put them away at night. They're still young but I have them in a larger gated yard to explore and peck around during the day. Lots of bugs around. I have Bresse chicks from you guys and another farm, the ones from the other farm are a month older or so but I let them mingle. They have different quarters at night though.

Thanks for checking in. Your chicks are beautiful I appreciate the good job you guys do..... your chicks and professionalism...

We love our chickens and they are doing great. We got our run built a couple weeks ago.  They are getting big quickly. We have let them out in the front yard for the neighborhood children to come see. 😊
Would love to stay in touch.  I am sure I will have questions in due time.

The American Bresse?

8/21/2024
When I think about the Bresse chicken found in North America, it almost seems too good to be true..

My wish is to one day acquire elite stock, the Bresse otherwise known as Bresse de Bény that are closely guarded behind the rumored triple bio security walls. The Gauloise blanche attainable only as a borrowed commodity since its acceptance as a French designated Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée status.

I was among the very first to buy into American Bresse. It was between 2012 and 2013. At that time, I was developing some of our own non-Cornish lines of large dual-purpose breeds and had not quite achieved the growth potential that was found within the Bresse chicken breed. Read more>
