Ayam Cemani
A well known breed of chicken originating from Indonesia. This intriguing breed has dark skin, bones, and meat. A mystical breed used in ceremonies and thought to bring luck to its keepers. Breeding programs in North America have spent years of selecting tediously in order to carry this exotic looking bird into and beyond the 21st Century.
Personally, I like how this chicken is bad to the bone, and black to the bone. What appears to be a more expensive hard feather version of a Silkie, or a love child of a Silkie and a Sumatra is so much more intriguing.
As I understand from the people we have purchased our stock from, our lines are from Canadian imports, but were originally imported from Indonesia via Sweden. We also have some from other farms in order to pump up a wider gene pool. I think you will enjoy our birds. Very dark, but we cannot guarantee perfection. Our goal has been to maximize our stock to prevent bottleneck of the genetics. Our stock has been sourced from reputable breeders.
